Guest Interviews
8. Purple Coach Conversations' interview with Ellie Highwood, D&I Strategy & Training, Leadership and Career Coach.

Ellie Highwood has a very impressive resume including Head of Department in one of the top ranking Meteorology Departments in the world. She is also the founder of Equasense, which is a Diversity and Inclusion firm that provides consultancy and training to organisations that want to be more inclusive and tackle issues around diversity. Ellie joins PCC and very candidly shares her thoughts and feelings on various topics including:
-
What changes there has been in her role as a D&I expert following from George Floyd's death. We examine how the discussion of inclusion has changed from gender equality to racism and race equality.
-
As a White D&I Specialist, what her insights have been and how she consciously uses the fact that she's White to her advantage in order to make a difference and get other White people to listen and get involved in issues around racism.
-
Why White people might need to first hear difficult topics from other White people before they can understand the complexity of Diversity and Inclusion.
-
Her experience as a White person talking in front of People of Colour.
-
Are organisations actually acting on their promises? Is this simply a tick box exercise to show social responsibility or are organisations really looking to make real and lasting change around D&I?
